  • A while back we installed an egress window for John, a customer in New Hope who was beginning a basement remodeling project. John had us install his interior drain tile system back in 1991 and felt confident our crew 17125 Install-9would do a good job with the new window system as well.

For us this was a simple install and our crew eagerly tackled the job. They were careful to lay down plywood to keep from tearing up the customer’s yard as they moved wheelbarrows full of dirt and debris away from the house. As part of the job we installed drain tile in the window well and tied it into the existing waterproofing system … just to make sure things stayed nice and dry.

John gave the crew 5’s across the board for Quality, Responsiveness, Punctuality and Professionalism and stated he liked that we tied the window well drain into his current waterproofing system. When asked to grade the crew that worked on his home; Good, Fair or Poor … John wrote in Excellent.

2012_12_22_3163Later on he sent us pictures of his completed remodeling job. Nice. If you’re planning to remodel your basement and you’ve had any kind of water problem you may want to consider installing a waterproofing system first, to protect your investment. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call; we’d love to talk with you.

We love getting good reviews from our customers. This one stood out where the customer mentioned what made Standard Water their choice: “- Superb website, especially the videos. – Word of mouth recommendations. – Seeing a system that had already been installed in our neighborhood. (seeing is believing) – Very confident, low key salesperson. – Cost effective. —> Awesome. Your […]
  • What you’re looking at is one of the more extensive projects we’ve seen in the last year or so–a basement in Saint Paul, Minnesota. As you can see, the entire basement floor was cracking and crumbling, allowing water into JSN 71109 Installation-Day 3-3the basement in many places. In this case, we had to remove the entire basement floor to address the problem. Complicating matters, there were several support posts in the basement that we had to replace one at a time as we worked across the basement floor, so as to not compromise the structural integrity of the upper floors of the house.

Once the old concrete was all taken up, we laid down Delta Drainage Board. Building code requires the use of a vapor barrier under cement slabs in homes. We use Delta Drainage Board for these sorts of installations because it leaves a gap for water and air communication underneath the slab, which allows water to move sideways under the slab and also facilitates better air movement in the case that a radon mitigation system is needed. At this home, we worked for about 3 days from start to finish, leaving the homeowner with a brand-new basement floor that should keep their basement dry for many many years to come.

Standard Water has over 35 years of experience tackling all kinds of basement water problems. If you have a basement water problem–no matter the size–please give us a call. We can help.

  • Not too long ago we were working at a home in Plymouth, Minnesota. What you’re seeing here is a common type of drain tile installed in many homes. You’re also seeing one of the main reasons we don’t like this kind of JSN 59666 Salesmen-6pipe; minerals have bridged the narrow slots that are supposed to let water into the system and keep your basement floor dry. The other problem is flexible pipe like this goes in like a roller coaster, and you can see why some sections are plugged up and others are bone dry.

    The result? A wet basement.

Rigid-Draintile-is-superiorWe’re often called in to fix the problems created by systems like this. We know just what to do; Standard Water uses rigid PVC drain tile with large holes to prevent the mineral bridging problem. We also take care to slope the pipe down to the sump basin to ensure proper water flow. Now, when our patented Diamond Drainage Board is installed the homeowner can rest assured his water problem is solved once and for all. In this case we also installed an egress window that really complemented the house.

Darren, the homeowner, gave us a good review with 5’s for Quality, Responsiveness, Punctuality and Professionalism. When asked why he chose Standard Darren said, “I did a lot of research and Standard Water had the best – most complete – solution.” Thanks, Darren; we like to think so! If your current drain tile system isn’t keeping your basement dry … please give us a call … we can help.

“Dug out my old, non functional drain tile system and sump pump. Replaced with their custom drain tile and sump system. This required a great deal of prep work on my end, as they had to jack hammer out my existing floor to do the job. They did a perfectly professional job, leaving my basement cleaner than I left it for them, in the time frame they estimated. I’ve been waiting for a huge rain to write this review, and I haven’t been disappointed. Since the rains started, I’ve been wearing a groove in my stairs running down them to listen to my new sump pump working away, then running back up the stairs and out the front door to watch my new system dump in the yard. It’s been fascinating and unfailing. It amazes me the amount of water that I would be swimming in if not for Standard Water Control.”
