Prevent Basement Flooding
Basement flooding is generally caused by factors outside the homeowners’ control which include, but are not limited to, power failure, sump pump failure or a frozen discharge pipe. Often times, this failure can happen when it is least convenient, including over the holidays or when you are away from home. Even worse, many homeowner’s insurance policies have limited wet basement coverage in cases of pump failure.
To best protect your home, and avoid a potentially damaging flood situation, major insurance companies suggest homeowners install battery backup sump pump systems in case of pump or power failure. In fact it just makes good sense to have a backup sump pump system regardless of what insurance companies think; you’re the one that will be inconvenienced if anything happens.
