“the sump pit in my basement is giving off a foul odor — like rotten eggs. This started a few months ago. I called the company that put in the sump pit and pump as part of a basement waterproofing job five years ago. They did not respond. I called the County Sewer Hot Line and they were stumped about what to do since I was not having sewer drain backups. They said to check the vent pipe up on the roof. That was clear.
I called my plumber and he had no solution nor did my neighbor who can fix anything. My son and I have filled the pit with clean water numerous times and the smell remains. I have left bleach in it to no avail. The smell still stays in the house no matter the weather, water usage or time of day. What should I do?”
