Standard Water Control in Minneapolis

40yearsBadge

Minneapolis Basement Waterproofing & Radon Mitigation

Minneapolis sits on more water than almost any city its size. The lakes, the river, the spring snowmelt, the summer storms that roll in off the plains and drop two inches in an hour. Most of the time, that water is what makes the city worth living in. When it finds its way into your basement, it’s a different conversation.

Standard Water has been having that conversation with Minneapolis homeowners since 1977. In nearly five decades, we’ve waterproofed more than 45,000 homes and businesses across the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin, laying down over 2.2 million feet of drain tile along the way. We work from Northeast to Longfellow, from the older block-foundation homes near the lakes to the newer construction out toward the city limits, and we know how water behaves differently depending on where you live, what your foundation looks like, and what the soil is doing underneath it.

Basement waterproofing is the core of what we do, but it’s not all we do. Standard Water also handles radon mitigation, foundation stabilization, egress window installation, crawl space encapsulation, and more. If it’s a basement problem in Minneapolis, we’ve seen it and we know how to fix it.

Basement Waterproofing Installation in Minneapolis

Very impressed from start to finish. As a single female homeowner, I often get talked down to by contractors/home repair professionals and I didn’t experience that at all with Standard Water. From the consult to the day of the project, everything was professional and well communicated. I thought the price was reasonable for the scope of the work. I was very nervous about the mess that would be involved with the drain tile and sump pump installation but as soon as the crew showed up, my mind was put to ease. They knew exactly what they were doing and while yes it’s messy, hard work, I’m very happy and impressed with the result. Standard does a great job of prepping you for the job and advising you on how to prepare your space. I am so relieved to not have to worry about water in the basement anymore. Definitely recommend!  –Erin Bartlett

Our Services in Minneapolis

Basement waterproofing is the foundation of our work, and the system we install reflects nearly five decades of refinement. We use rigid PVC drain tile rather than the corrugated flexible pipe you’ll find from other contractors. Rigid pipe holds a continuous downhill slope to the sump basin, drains faster, and doesn’t trap sediment the way flexible pipe does. Our patented Diamond Drainage Board® moves water across the footing and into the drainage field without the gap between floor and wall that older methods require. Every system includes a Superior Sump System with an airtight diamond plate cover, a premium submersible pump, a high water alarm, and dual discharge pipes sized to accommodate a battery backup pump whenever you’re ready for one.

Foundation Stabilization & Repair Cracks in basement walls, bowing or leaning walls, and floors that have started to shift are signs that something structural is happening. Standard Water handles foundation stabilization and repair across Minneapolis, including helical pier installation for homes where settling has gone beyond the surface.

Sump Pumps A sump pump is only as reliable as its installation. We size and install sump systems correctly the first time, and our maintenance program keeps them running when it matters most, which is usually during a storm at midnight in April.

Egress Windows An egress window turns an unfinished basement into livable square footage. It also brings in natural light, improves ventilation, and gives your household a safe exit in an emergency. Standard Water handles the full installation, including the well, the window, and the waterproofing around the opening.

Crawl Space Encapsulation An unencapsulated crawl space pulls moisture, cold air, and soil gases up into your living areas. Encapsulation seals the crawl space off from the ground, controls humidity, and makes the space cleaner and more energy efficient.

Dehumidifiers & Mold Remediation A waterproofed basement still needs proper humidity control to stay clean and dry. We install dehumidifiers sized for the space, and when mold is already present, our remediation service addresses it at the source rather than masking it.

We had our sump pump looked at and SWCS was extremely responsive and very quickly had the advice we were looking for. They have a sump pump alert and alarm system that gives us the confidence that the sump pump is working as it should. Thank you very much for my sump pump assessment for my new commercial building!    –Mark Zubert

What to Expect When You Work With Standard Water

Having provided basement solutions for more than 45,000 property owners, Standard Water understands that providing long-term peace of mind starts with your first interaction with us and continues through every variable that impacts your experience: the quality of the products and materials used, the effectiveness, longevity, and cost of our solution, the installation process itself, and our customer service. That is why we take great care to provide the best experience available before, during, and after the job.

Before the Job

Every project starts with a free consultation and written estimate. We identify the right fix for your specific situation, pull any required permits, and make sure everything meets Minneapolis code before a crew sets foot in your home. If the cost doesn’t fit your budget right now, we offer financing options.

During the Job

We hand-dig all trenches to keep dust from spreading through the house. If the crew needs to cross your lawn, plywood goes down first. Doorways and vents get sealed off, belongings get covered, and air scrubbers with HEPA filters run throughout the job. Most installations are done in two days or less.

The materials matter too. We use rigid PVC drain tile instead of corrugated pipe because it holds slope, drains faster, and doesn’t clog. Our patented Diamond Drainage Board® moves water across the footing without leaving an open gap at the wall. Every system gets our Superior Sump System with an airtight cover, a high water alarm, and dual discharge pipes ready for a battery backup pump.

After the Job

Every installation comes with a warranty. If something isn’t performing the way it should, we come back and fix it at no charge.

Why Minneapolis Homeowners Choose Standard Water

Standard Water has been in business since 1977. That’s not a marketing line; it’s the reason our top ten employees average 24 years with the company, why most of our work comes from repeat customers and referrals, and why we’ve maintained an A+ rating with the BBB since 1990.

We’re Basement Health Association certified, NRPP certified for radon, and a Fortress Platinum contractor. Our crews are licensed and bonded in Minnesota. We don’t subcontract.

In 45-plus years we’ve installed more than 30,000 drain tile systems across the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin. When we finish a job, we stamp our name in the concrete next to the sump basin. That’s not a gimmick. It’s how confident we are in the work.
