We just got this note from Tim in Hope. Actually we’re getting these questions a lot this year … about 10 calls a day. As it seems important to our customers we thought we’d answer them here.
“You folks installed drain tile and a pump in my house in 2002. It
has worked great! This year the water continues to drain at a steady rate
and it is a week into January. The pump runs about every hour. Do you have
any suggestions as to where the water is coming from?
Also, about every one or two days the pump keeps running and I have to
unplug it. Then it resets and runs fine. Could it be that sediment clogs the
intake valve?
Thanks for your ideas.
Tim”
- This is an unusual year with the late rains. It’s as simple as that, it’s been unusually warm, owing to the El Nino, and we’ve had a lot of rain that has to go somewhere. Unfortunately, it does appear in some basements. The good news is your current system is doing its job.
- As for the pump question; that pump is 13 or 14 years old and is coming to the end of its service life. Now is the time to consider getting a new one installed. As it happens we can help with that.
