The Solution

Superior Basement Waterproofing Solutions

Basement waterproofing systems from Standard Water Control reflect our commitment to providing permanent protection against a wet basement now and in the future. We back it up with a warranty good for the life of your foundation.

Drain Holes

Drain Holes are properly drilled–not “punched”–into all main, joint and corner cavities. This allows drainage and prevents water build-up in all conceivable areas. Care is taken to place holes into the void, above the mortar at the base of the block.

Diamond Drainage Board

Diamond Drainage Board® facilitates the unrestricted flow of water from the block, across the footing and into the drainage field.

Washed Rock

Washed Rock is used under and around drain tile as drainage medium and envelope to keep dirt out of the system.

Rigid PVC Drainage Pipe

Rigid PVC Drainage Pipe assures quality application. Large holes allow fast, efficient drainage and eliminate clogging. Rigid pipe maintains a continuous descending slope to basin.

Plastic Moisture Barrier

Plastic Moisture Barrier is placed between the rock and newly finished cement floor.

Superior Sump System

Superior Sump SystemSM includes a high quality structural grade sump basin and diamond plate cover that bolts down for controlled access to the sump basket. As well as a premium grade totally automatic submersible pump with a check valve and high water alarm.

Seamless Discharge System

Seamless Discharge SystemSM will not crack or break due to freezing and there are no joints to fail; it is one continuous pipe from the sump basin to the exterior of the home.

As part of every water control and removal system Standard Water Control installs, we add dual seamless discharge which allows for easy installation of a battery back up pump system later.

How We Perform Basement Waterproofing Installations

In most cases, waterproofing a basement only takes a couple of days with minimal disruption at a very reasonable cost. If you’re wondering “how to do basement waterproofing”, read our waterproofing process below. Our waterproofing process, completed in six steps, will ensure your foundation remains protected for generations to come.

Step 1: Dig Trenches & Protect The Foundation
Our crews take special care to protect your property by putting plywood on your lawn to protect your grass. To protect your flooring, we put runners in high traffic areas. We also seal off doorways and vents, and cover personal belongings with plastic, before covering the rest of the work area with plastic walls to seal it off. We use air scrubbers with Hepa filters and jackhammers equipped with Hepa vacuums to help reduce dust.

After the preparation work is done, the foreman will walk you through the site answering any questions you may have. We then jackhammer around the basement’s perimeter, removing approximately 18 inches of the floor from the wall. The finest equipment is used and our crews pay special attention to ensure the footing of the foundation is undamaged. All trenches are dug by hand and sloped toward the sump basket. The dirt and debris are removed via rubber buckets and wheelbarrows and hauled away by our trucks for recycling.

Step 2: Drain Water From Foundation Blocks
With each system Standard Water installs, we drill drainage holes in each and every cavity of the basement wall where the block meets the foundation. This allows water to flow freely into the waterproofing system where it can be safely and efficiently pumped away from your house. With a poured concrete wall the drain holes are not necessary. Our patented Diamond Drainage Board® allows the water to flow across the footing and into the drainage medium.

Step 3: Install Rigid Drainage Pipe
We use rigid PVC drainage pipe (also known as drain tile) ensuring an even downhill slope to the sump basin. Rigid drainage pipe is superior to flexible pipe–in part because the drainage holes are bigger and are not subject to clogging from minerals that plagues flexible piping. Flexible pipe also holds water in low spots that can add to a moisture problem in your basement. Basically, rigid piping does a better job of moving water to the sump basin.

Step 4: Patented Drainage Technology
Our Patented Diamond Drainage Board®, provides you significant benefits over conventional methods:

- It facilitates the unrestricted flow of water from the block, across the footing and into the drainage field.
- It eliminates the concern of sediment blockage in the small openings of tubes and other products.
- Diamond Drainage Board® allows for replacement of concrete to the same thickness as the original floor with positive contact to the footing. This will restore the structural strength of your floor. It also resolves the need for an “open gap” between the floor and wall for moisture barrier installation and to keep the creepy crawlies out.
- By installing our patented technology with every basement waterproofing system, we help provide peace of mind for homeowners for generations to come.

Step 5: Install Moisture Barrier
A risk with the installation of any new waterproofing system is the threat of moisture wicking up through the cement after installation.

To eliminate this risk, Standard Water Control installs a moisture barrier, prior to having new concrete put in place and professionally finished. We are so confident in this process, and its ability to permanently eliminate basement seepage, that we stamp our name in every job we do – right in the concrete next to the sump basin.

Step 6: Install Superior Sump Pump System
Our Superior Sump SystemSM includes a sump basket manufactured from structural plastic with our Diamond Plate CoverSM bolted down – airtight – for controlled access and safety. The sump pump is the highest quality available, and is used with every basement waterproofing system we install.

This premium grade, totally automatic submersible pump with a high water alarm helps ensure a longer pump life and a dry basement. Two discharge pipes are installed on every job, one for the primary pump and the other to facilitate the installation of a battery backup pump system now or in the future.

Basement Waterproofing Products

The basement waterproofing systems we install ensure homeowners avoid leaky basements and are made of the highest quality and include our patented Diamond Drainage Board® below:

  • Rigid PVC Pipe: Featuring larger drainage holes than flexible pipe; providing a smooth, downhill slope to the sump basin.
  • Washed Rock: Installed as a filter medium around your drain tile to keep dirt from the trench from infiltrating the system.
  • Moisture Barrier: A thin barrier placed under your concrete that will prevent wicking once basement repair is complete.
  • Diamond Drainage Board®: Patented product that facilitates the unrestricted flow of water into our system and allows for the replacement of concrete matching the thickness of your original flooring.
  • Superior Sump Pump SystemSM: Our system features an air-tight, service-marked diamond plate cover which is bolted down for security and safety, a premium grade submersible sump pump, and a high water alarm to alert you in case of primary pump failure.

Seamless Discharge SystemSM: Our waterproofing discharge system features dual discharge pipes – one for the primary pump and one for a battery backup pump system (which can be installed at a later date). This discharge system will not freeze or crack. When combined with our Superior Sump System it creates a state of the art drain tile solution.
